The line from Lewes to Rye may not qualify as one of the great railway journeys of the world, but it never fails to cheers me up:

Lucille - Every time I go past Winchelsea I want to stop and get off. One day I will.
zmkc - It was. My camera phone didn't do it justice.
Do- but time it carefully, the stopping trains are few and far between! Also a surprisingly long walk up to the citadel but absolutely worth it.
