Hungry Birds

The robins are now five days old. I've discovered that if I make a tapping noise, they automatically open their beaks:

I apologise to any robinophobes who have stumbled across this post.

Terrific fun...is that called teasing?

I hope so, rather than cruelty to robins!

Aw, so sweet, would they do the same if you spoke to them or made a noise like kissing?

They look like very odd flowers, with their beaks springing open like that :D How big are they?

I've tried different noises, but the tapping seems to be the most effective.

They're probably about the size of half a finger - tiny little things, but still miraculously much larger than the eggs they hatched from, less than a week ago.

How sweet! And no, I'm not a robin phobe. Quite the opposite in fact. I have collection of English robin statues, cards, etc. that various family members have given me over the years because my husband Rob's name actually is Robin -- not Robert as people always assume. xoxox

Worth looking for David Lack's The Life of the Robin in your stock before you sell it.
