dear Steerforth - I do hope all is ok with you. I'm not sure how you usually manage to produce so much lovely, funny, thoughtful writing, but can imagine that it must sometimes be just one thing too many to think about. anyway, you are definitely missed.
I agree with anonymous. I do hope all is okay with you and all the family, and just wanted to let you know that you are definitely missed. Take care and God bless, xoxox
Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs - I've just taken a few weeks out over on the Dabbler, and I don't think anybody even noticed! Steerforth takes a breather, and a massive fanclub, mostly women, assemble on the lawn, worried sick. You are followed by more girls online than I ever was in the flesh.
I have to say I'm really touched by the comments, but I must stress that I'm quite okay. I've just been distracted by various things recently and haven't felt as if I have anything to say and didn't want to write for the sake of it.
I'll start at the bottom and work my way backwards:
Mahlerman - Don't think your absence wasn't noted, but as far as the predominantly female respponse goes, I think that's because women are more likely to ask people if they're okay.
Joyce - I do enjoy writing, most of the time, but the last month has been a bit of an odd time, as you'll find out at the memorial drink in Farringdon.
Modern Dog - Thank you for emerging from the aether. I really appreciate your comment.
Roger - I will return, as Fu Manchu used to say.
Carol - Many thanks for your kind words over the years. There have been some positive developments with my son recently, so my silence shouldn't be interpreted as ominous. I'm just distracted at the moment.
Anonymous - That's exactly what it is - one thing too many, as all my energies are going into the family situation at the moment.
Erika - I'm relieved that you'll still be around when I return - there's always a worry that if content isn't updated, the blog withers away, so thanks for reassuring me.
Geranium - Glad to hear from you too!
Anne - The steam has definitely gone, but I hope things will be on an even keel shortly.
Joan - Please don't worry. I think life just feels bitty at the moment and the only thing I did last week wouldn't make a great blog post, unless you're interested in garden decking!
I really appreciate your comments and will post as soon as I have something to say that might be of interest to others.
That's a relief - I was going to ask for occasional posts of assurance that you're still alive.
Anyway, take as much time as you need - you have higher priorities than entertaining a bunch of strangers on the internet. We miss you, but we'll survive. :)

I've started worrying about you. We miss you. Hope everything is okay and you're just taking a break.
Run out of steam ? Have a rest but come back as soon as you are able.
Regards,
Anne
Glad to hear from you!
I was also worrying. Take care, and hope you're refreshed and ready to go again soon.
Hang in there, do what's needed to look after yourself and your family. We'll still be here :)

Come back! All is forgiven!
My dearest Steerforth,
I do look forward to your return, and await it with the greatest anticipation.
Yours most sincerely,
A voice out of the aether
Please start writing again - we know it gives you almost as much pleasure as we have in reading it.
