That first one actually looks quite creepy... as though he's just materialising, or fading from sight.
Yes, it reminds me of those faked ectoplasm photos.
My work is about a previous decade, and to me there's something about those old black and white photographs, sepia with age, that captures people's facial expressions and body language better than Kodachrome....
