Are you alright?

Ah, they don't make public safety ads like they used to. And where, oh where is the helpful advice for the middle classes these days? Nowhere. Yet again, we're the ignored class -squashed by punitive taxation at one end, neglected by the COI at the other-the nanny state seems to think that those of us brought up by nannies don't need any help at all. Discrimination, I call it. Class warfare, even. The bourgeoisie must stand up and fight for our right to be warned about the dangers of highly polished parquet.
(Tee hee. I really love this ad-how on earth did you find it?)

Yet nobody thought to polish a floor, put a rug on it and invite the Jehovah's Witness in for a change.

Classic stuff. Just as well such attention to housework has gone out the window, along with the housewife who had time to do it.

Funny how they thought it a subject worth making an ad about though!

Elderly people wearing slippers (clue is in the name) are surely far more of a trip hazard.

The 2-DVD box set 'Charlie Says' covers this and many other classic ads of the last 50 years, but it does get somewhat monotonous after a while.

Certainly makes one hanker for simpler times...

Thanks Lucille, I'm fine. I just have very limited internet access at the moment, which is annoying (if things get much worse, I'll have to read a book!)

Mrs Trefusis - just type "public information film" in the YouTube search box and a box of delights awits you.

Mr Street - an excellent suggestion, although I'd like to include salespeople who to try persuade me to change my gas and electricity supplier.

Laura - a 2-DVD boxed set? Perhaps you can have too much of a good thing.
